Wine.
It never used to be my first choice, but over the years I have grown to love and deeply appreciate wine. This is also directly correlated with my growing appreciation for the enjoyment of good atmosphere and company.
So when I was invited by a good friend and blogger, Felicia Tan (Dancinginhighheels.com), to the grand opening of wine bar-cum-cafe, Chez Maiss at Hammersmith Broadway. How could I say no?
I really loved how much light there was throughout the place. The spatial arrangement allowed for just about enough space around our kinesphere (personal space) yet not disconnect us from our neighbours and the collective atmosphere. Overall, I felt like the space was very well used and kept the good vibes circulating throughout the venue.
That, and it could also be the red wine that is helping my blood circulate (I kid). The wines for the opening was selected by the restaurant and bar manager, and it was great - ‘friendly’ and easy-to-drink wines that even the enthusiast like I am would appreciate. I even enjoyed the syrah and I don’t usually drink wine made by syrah grapes because I find it too ‘harsh’ for my palate.
The Chez Maiss brand does not only focus on its identity as a wine bar, but doubles-up as a cafe during the day with coffee, breakfast and a day food menu. I found it to be quite a brilliant decision considering that they are right in the epicentre of Hammersmith, with commuters coming through during rush hours and shopping mall-goers visiting during the day.
I can’t wait to try out Chez Maiss once again at different capacities.
